Mindfulness in our daily lives

I used to think that in order to become mindful I needed to be at a retreat far away up in the Himalayan mountains for weeks and I’d visualize myself in monk clothes, sitting in an easy pose meditating. But after a while you realize that this sounds like an awesome experience however  what do you do when you’re not on a holiday and relaxing in the sun? How about our daily lives, are we just supposed to be stressed out daily with all the things we need to do and just rest when on a holiday? I say:” No way ! I deserve to feel good every day, even when having challenging days, it’s ok, I can still create peacefulness inside of me.” So how do I do that? I simply take a minute or two every couple of hours and follow my breath. I ask myself:”Am I breathing?” And luckily the answer is: “ Yes, I am!” This takes me to the present and I just start breathing, I notice my  in-breath and notice my out-breath. So know : ”You don’t have to be a monk to be mindful, anyone can do it.”

Absolutely. I just turn on some soft music and practice meditating at home. After 2 months, I realize some changes, not significant, but I’m happy and have more motivations to keep exercising.
