When one of my kids is sick I am basically up all night. Now sleep is the one thing I need the most and if I don’t get enough sleep I become a major pain in the butt. I feel cranky, exhausted and I don’t have a lot of patience. A night of crying and kids not feeling well is exhausting. So guess what, the next day is really hard for me to be mindful. But what can you do? First, acknowledge you are tired and know that it is normal after a night of no sleep. Second, try not to make any important decisions when tired. Third, cancel dinner with your in-laws or if you had any big plans and move them to another date. Fourth, Close your eyes for 30 seconds and take some deep breaths every hour or so. It’s ok to be tired sometimes, accept it and do your best to move through the day gracefully.
